SeBern Custom Homes: Traditional, Transitional, Timeless

Since 1993, St. Charles-based SeBern Custom Homes has been building, renovating and remodeling homes in Chicagoland.  The team of Ken Bernhard, Tom Detelich, Julie Bernhard and their talented staff are dedicated to quality craftsmanship, inspired design and an astute attention to detail.

Julie Bernhard conveys, “We decided to build a home in west St. Charles 23 years ago and it sold immediately.”  From there, SeBern Custom Homes has grown considerably despite the uncertain economic conditions of late.  As members of the NIHBA, Northern Illinois Home Builders Association, the SeBern team has won countless awards for their quality and innovation.

Sister company, Grandview Capital, has emerged to buy existing homes and update/upgrade to pristine and current market conditions.

Executive Director, Julie Bernhard shares, “The SeBern team specializes in Traditional and Transitional styles.” The Transitional approach marries the Traditional look with clean, contemporary lines for an updated, classic design.  Simple and sophisticated lighting, finishes, color palettes and fabrics combine for a new twist on timeless elegance.

“Lately, homeowners have been requesting white kitchen cabinets with professional appliances, Transitional lighting and plumbing fixtures, European oak hardwood floors and a mix of grey and beige paint colors” according to Julie Bernhard on current kitchen design trends.

The Sebern team attributes their success to their process of working carefully and mindfully with homeowners, emphasizing the importance of listening to glean important input.  “We meet with clients to discuss ideas and plans for the project.  We consider expanding spaces, utilizing new products and making appropriate selections.”

Whether building luxury new construction homes or custom remodeling projects, being a successful design/build firm requires sensitivity and awareness. Julie Bernhard explains, “While being creative is a key component to a unique home, we guide our clients to a solid investment for future resale-ability.”
