I was lucky enough to participate in the Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley Women Build this week. It was an amazing, inspiring day of service with a great group of volunteers.

Habitat Women Build 2019 IL

Our crew hung interior doors and built window sills for a home renovation in Elgin. Other crews painted ceilings and hung cabinets in the kitchen.

The homeowner worked right along with us and she will be moving in this summer with her family. Habitat offers no-interest loans to qualifying applicants and each homeowner contributes 250 hours of work on the home.

Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity has added much meaning and richness to our work at Kennedy Productions, Inc. and The Old House New House Home Show.

There are many ways for businesses and individuals to get involved.  Corporate teams make a big difference with volunteering. Building materials that are gently used, samples or surplus can be donated to the ReStore Elgin or ReStore Chicago. Individual volunteers are always needed to dig in and make a difference.

Over the past four years, the staff from Kennedy Productions and The Old House New House Home Show have worked on the Women Build, laying sub floors, painting, building door frames, raising walls and installing flooring.  The talented team at Habitat has always instructed us with much wisdom and helpful guidance.

Habitat Women Build 2019 ILI’m not sure how much “skill” is being utilized with this Skil saw… I’m especially thankful for the helpful, patient crew leaders that kept us pointed in the right direction… using our tools for the greatest good.
